"It's obvious that Laura puts a great deal of thought and preparation into her lesson plan."

We now have classes for any and all levels.

New West Coast Found Basic I & 2 classes are appropriate for beginners and slightly beyond (or advanced dancers who want to learn the reverse role).  The intent is a “boot camp” pace to get us quickly up to speed.  The class lengths are 1.5 hours, including practice time.  This continuous series of classes is intended to give students the necessary basic skills for social dancing.   Classes are appropriate for absolute beginners or dancers with limited experience.   Advanced dancers can reverse their role (followers learn to lead, and visa versa).  The pace is at a medium level with lots of practice time.  Students interested in this level are also encouraged to practice between classes at Loafers, Elks Lodge and many other places.

Lesson packs can be purchases in Single, 4-pack and 8-pack denominations ($16, $14/lesson, $12/lesson respectively).

West Coast Basic II is appropriate for those with limited experience but know the core moves. This progressive series of classes are intended to give students additional techniques, footwork and moves appropriate for social dancing.   Classes are appropriate for dancers with limited experiences and those who want to practice/improve their technique and smooth-out their dancing.   Pace is at a medium level.  Students interested in this level are also encouraged to attend the Foundation 1 classes and the Sunday dance practices (at no extra charge).

West Coast Musicality is appropriate for Intermediate dancers.

This progressive series of classes are intended to give students musicality, footwork and body isolation moves appropriate for social dancing.   Classes are appropriate for intermediate dancers and those who want to practice/improve their technique.   Pace is at a fast/medium level.  Registration with partner is not required. Client description of the classes:

"Footwork is clearly an important element of style to Laura". Her emphasis on this is one of the things that sets her apart from some of her contemporaries."

"She starts each lesson with a warm-up consisting of a number of footwork alternatives designed to enhance the basic step."

"The way she integrates the new footwork enhancements into a repetitive warm up exercise is a great technique and a way to pack a lot into the hour."

"During the core skill sessions, Laura carefully chooses exercises and patterns that are effective at teaching the concept of lead-follow, so important to West Coast Swing and most other dance steps.  Each new pattern is demonstrated with slower music at first, then students are challenged with a quicker score for repetition.”

"Laura pays close attention to and is very patient with each student, regardless of the skill level they come in with". "If she sees that a student is not moving through a new pattern quite as quickly as others, she will intervene as either the leader or follower to make sure the student reaches the breakthrough they are seeking." And she does this efficiently so as to not hold up the class any more than necessary".

"Finally, Laura is careful to keep the class on task, while still allowing a little fun and mischief, but definitely completing her lesson plan and providing the value that her students are looking for."
